The vision for September 2011 to June 2012 is "Share Your Story." Each student has a faith story to share with those who don't have faith in Jesus. Students will be challenged in a variety of relevant ways to share their faith with their peers (no pun intended) and ask God to bring them to faith in Jesus.
Below is a quick update on LAUNCHPAD Tuesday Night's and Epicentre. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you for your time

LAUNCHPAD TUESDAY'S
We are resuming our Tuesday LaunchPad nights from 7-9pm every Tuesday from September 6th to December 13th.
Every Tuesday night students are challenged to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ, fellowship with one another, worship God, carry out acts of service to meet the needs of others, and learn how to share their faith story with those who don’t know God. We do this in ways that are relevant and fun for Students in Grades 6 to Grade 12.
Ultimately what we want to do is Launch Students into the Mission God has for them.
Our website will have regular updated information about each Tuesday night but there are three main items to Highlight
This Tuesday Night - September 6th is our Kick Off Night. We're playing a game called Lava Monster, Whitefire will be playing, and we've got an awesome snack courtesy of the Hatashita family.
EPICENTRE - EPICENTRE - EPICENTRE
Epicentre is an evangelism initiative that is being carried out by the Billy Graham Association of Canada and several churches across the Waterloo Region and Wellington County. The purpose of this initiative is to provide fellowship, discipleship, worship, and service opportunities that will inspire the people of these regions to transform their city for Christ.
The opportunities Epicentre provides for the students of Highview to engage discipleship, worship, fellowship, serving others and learning how to share their faith is out of this world.
My hope and prayer is that Highview will be the epicentre of change in Kitchener and that students and their families will be transformed for Christ.
There are 4 main events but several others that will be spread throughout the year. We're only going to highlight one event for now:
EVENT 1: Hallofuzion
Who: Junior & Senior Students (Grade 6-12), & Parents
Date: Friday, September 30th, 2011
Cost: $35 covers all Epicentre events. Please see “The Cost” in upcoming Parent Student Communication for explanation.
Time: 6:30/6:45pm – 10pm
Drop Off/Pick Up Location: Parents drop off and picket up at Forward Baptist Church (455 Myers Road Cambridge, ON. N1R 5S2).
What: Starfield, Mark Miller, Prayer, Worship
This is our Epicentre kickoff event. Students are going to be inspired to pray and engage their friends who don’t know Jesus.
All parents are invited to come to this event. There is a special program for parents interested in learning about Epicentre, BGEAC, and what is happening to reach the regions of Wellington Country and Waterloo Region for Jesus Christ. It will provide an opportunity to pray for your child, pray for youth who don’t know Christ, and to pray for the churches of our cities.

June & The Summer
Key Dates:
Tues June 14th, 2011 - Final Regular Youth Group For The Season.
Sat June 25th, 2011 - Wonder Jam - arrive here at Highview right at 10:15am.
Tonight is our Final Youth Group Night for the Season. Students are asked to make prints of whatever pictures they have from youth events. We plan on worshipping, praying, having fun, and remembering all that God has done through the year.
On a personal note this year has been out of this world. It has been full of God's Awesome Sauce. It's been amazing to hear prayers from students, see them make spiritually informed decisions, walk with them week to week through the life issues they face, and just love each other in God's name. Student's lives have been transformed. Leaders have grown in there depth of love for the students. Parents have been so supportive. Highviewer's have all been great prayer warriors.

Good Times
God has been doing some amazing things in the lives of some new students. We have just recently had a few new students sign our "promises" that we use to keep our sense of community together as a youth group. It's awesome when that happens because it is a reflection of the fact that they care about what is happening in the youth ministry and feel they really belong.
Good times
Please see GET READY HERE MAY COMES! for all the details in May

The Amazing Claim
The moment Jesus entered the grave and became alive again He had you on his heart and mind.
Yes, Jesus Christ is alive and well today.
This is what Christianity claims to be true.
Do you believe it this Easter?
Think about that.
Jesus came to earth, lived his life, was brutally beaten, nailed to a cross, and died. Isn't that the end of the story if it were anyone else?
Yes, it would be for anyone else
But for Jesus it was different.
He is the Creator of the Universe. The Alpha & Omega.
He was too strong for death to hold Him down. He rose from the grave with you in His heart and mind. He wants to birth in you new life.
Not even death could get in the way of Jesus showing how much He loves you and the world.
Love Him this Easter
Celebrate life with your family
Love the Lord Your God With All Your Heart

Imagine Your Life Without Any Access to Clean Drinking Water?
Turn On The Tap
Imagine not being able to access clean drinking water for one day. What impact would that make on your life? It would be PROFOUND. Now imagine that this is your entire life.
Turn On The Tap is all about helping families in this situation. They have no access to clean drinking water and it they are suffering because of it.
We can help.
Some details of the Turn On The Tap project are still being worked on. Please check this blog for updates
Here is what we know
- The date of the event is Saturday April 9th
- Students can be part of this project if they raise $50
- Each Student is challenged to raise $100
- For $100 we can buy one whole clean water filter for families in the world (like in Haiti) who desperately need clean drinking water.
- This project is a collection of youth groups in the region working together to raise $10,000
- The project is in collaboration with Samaritans Purse. They are the ones who distribute the filters.
- We are going to do a walk from IGC in Downtown Kitchener, walk along King Street to Waterloo Town Square, pick up water jugs in teams, and walk back to IGC for our celebration of all that God has done through this project.
- Students will be given Turn On the Tap t-shirts to wear for the walk and promote awareness about the program
- There are several needs we have: People to help count the finances as they come in on the Saturday, Event Coordinators on the day, people to supply water for students as needed, etc, etc. Contact Ian for more details

Epicentre - A Word to Get Familiar With
EPICENTRE is on my tongue lately!
And it will be for a while.
Keep reading to find out.
WINTER RETREAT REPORT: I have heard nothing but good from the leaders and students about what happened at the Winter Retreat. I am so thankful for the many ways that several Highviewers helped make this happen. I am also very thankful for the support of my family as I couldn't attend! So many people helped with making important phone calls, shopping, leading the students, and spiritually making an impact on the youth. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
YOUTH SERVICE - JAN 30TH: A big THANK YOU to all the students for the many ways they influenced and led the service on Sunday January 30th. You all did an amazing job communicating the meaning of the Promises we have made in the Launch Highview Student Ministries. Also, a big THANK YOU to the leaders who all played a major part in making this service happen. THANK YOU also to the parents for the many ways you supported this work as well. It truly was a collaborative effort!
EPICENTRE: This is a word you are going to hear the students talking about in the near future. Epicentre is a collaborative effort with the Billy Graham Association of Canada and several youth groups in the Guelp, Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge regions. It is the biggest thing I have ever been a part of as a Director of Student Ministries. What is it? It is a large scale evangelism training and outreach initiative. Highview Community Church is going to be a sponsor church for this initiative and the Launch Student Ministries is going to play a key role in making the phases of this initiative go forward. Stay tuned for more details.

Right Around the Corner
We have so many exciting things right around the corner.
January is a month where God is really calling us to celebrate all that He has done in and through the students. God led us to develop promises that form the basis of our community in the youth group and it is awesome to see what He has done through them in our lives.
Sunday January 30th: The youth are leading the worship service on Sunday January 30th. The ideas are coming together and we are starting to get excited! We have video, drama, music, and awesome challenges for the day planned. What a way to celebrate what God has been doing through the students by the promises we have made to each other as a youth group
Winter Retreat: It's right around the corner! So many exciting things planned. Please pray for God to move through the hearts of the youth and the leaders.

God Has In Store Great Things
God has great things in store for the Launch Student Ministries. There are so many amazing things that God has brought to our attention. Please check the blog regularly for details.
JANUARY 2011:
PARENT CONNECTION: Once and a while the Launch Student Ministries is going to ask the parents to come to a youth night for the first 10 minutes of youth group to have an opportunity to connect with the Student Ministries Director (Ian Peers) about upcoming youth initiatives. We did this last Tuesday night. The main feature of this connecting point is to provide a package of permission forms for upcoming events in a 3 month block. This will help eliminate permission forms going out at different times and create a better communication structure. This parent connection night is also to help answer questions and discover ways we can all be praying for what God is doing in our midst. Please stay posted as to when the next "Parent Connection" is going to be.
JANUARY 2011:
- Permission forms and cheques are due next Tuesday night (Jan 11) for the Winter Retreat/Snow Camp. This includes the friends of the students in Highview.
- The students in Launch Student Ministries have been asked to lead the worship service on January 30th. We'll be talking about promises we have made as a youth group and their impact on how they are developing community among us.
